Pickles And Trickery!

A wise sage once told me that if you eat 40 pickles after midnight, your teeth will glow in the dark forever. Upon completing this ghastly ritual one hideously early summer morning, my teeth are still the same shade of off-white and have never once even slightly glimmered in the dark.

I am no wise sage, but take a care to listen for a bare 30 seconds... Trust noone who entices you to eat 40 pickles, their sense of humour is obviously pickled. Trust instead in your eyes, let them guide you to what you desire...

By the by, I did hear from an astute young man that if you cover your naked body with honey and stand in a school playground for 3 hours on a windy day, you will have collected more rubbish than all the naughty kids on yard duty, and consequently resemble a human garbage depot. I'm not too sure if this is a wise thing to do though...

Whippletree

The Whippletree is a wooden bar positioned horizontally to the front of a horse drawn plough.
The bar is pivoted at or near the centre. It distributes force evenly through linkages.
Force is applied from one direction to the pivot, and from the other direction to the tips.

This exhibition was organised by the amazing Kate Marshall. Having a fondness for the brain teasing and brow creasing, she constructed an idea that no other could even pretend to take credit for. Thank you Kate, keep 'em coming :-)

The artists exhibiting in Whippletree are Kate Marshall, Karyn Nankivell, Stephen Robb, Misako Sakai, Puneet Jodhka, Jodie Welch, Alicia Hannah Naomi and Jane Walker (me).

Oak Hill Gallery is a lovely place to exhibit and one that I will definitely seek out for future exhibitions.

Oak Hill Gallery is situated at 100 Mornington-Tyabb Road, Mornington. Whippletree runs from 29th May - 24th June. There are five other exhibitions on at the same time, so it is definitely worth going for a look.

Unremote-Ables

This range of jewellery explores the function of boxes and the different ways they can be worn and operated. Through texture, form and a sense of hiding something, these necklaces with their little four-walled attachments entice one and many to play with something other than their thumbs.

The Body Corporate!

The Body Corporate is a collection of designer/makers of wearable jewellery and 3D objects. We all studied together in 2008 - 2009 and as our course was drawing to it's end, we banded together to conquer the unknowing world of jewellery design.

Curly Cabaret!

A wiggling, and a jiggling, and a twisting, and a jiving, makes this jewellery seem to dance before your eyes.

Made from sterling silver, this range of jewellery consists of earrings, brooches, bracelets and necklaces.

Curly Cabaret is very unique and full of musical life. It is made differently every time, giving each piece its own dancing tune.

Soon these jazzing two-steps will be accompanied by precious stones and more!

Flower Brooch.

This piece was made in 2008 in my first year at Box Hill Institute. It has been cast from a wax mould with impressions of three different types of grass on each lip of the flower. Materials are sterling silver.

Copper Armband With Tiger Eye Stone Sets.

This piece was made in 2000 at a home studio before I started any institutional jewellery studies. The studio was run by a lady who would teach you anything you wanted to know. I had always wanted to make an armband, as all the ones I'd seen in retail shops were lacking in originality. This was my first jewellery piece that involved soldering! Very exciting! :-)

Square Chenier Pendant And Chain.

This piece was made in 2008 in my first year at Box Hill Institute. The pendant is made from square chenier, with three wonky rings that have been oxidised to create contrast with the silver. Materials are sterling silver.

Spikey Ring With Greek Motif.

This piece was made in 2008 in my first year at Box Hill Institute. The motif has been stamped into the metal and some areas have been oxidised. Materials are sterling silver.
